1932. 16,5x11,5 cm. Near fine. Sighed on the rear side by Rodchenko’s grandson Alexander Lavrent’ev.
An idyllic picture: a worker is reading the Pravda newspaper.
Rodchenko was looking for new perspectives and angles since the late 1920s, following the slogan “Our duty is to experiment!”. He used destabilizing diagonals, harsh contrasts, dynamic views. This picture was shot from an experimental angle as well - and was a propaganda piece at its own, featuring communist symbols in the background. Being in the frontline of journalism, Rodchenko contributed to magazines ‘LEF’, ‘Soviet Photo’, ‘Ogoniok’, ‘USSR in Construction’, etc. and brought his avant-garde principles to even more periodicals.
