An interesting propaganda book written at the dawn of the Great Patriotic War. The book came out in the fall of 1941, at the time when Germany and its European allies in the Axis powers controlled much of Europe, including France, Poland, the Netherlands, Belarus, parts of Ukraine, etc. In the book, the author singles out four sections, France, Poland, the Netherlands, and Norway, and elaborates on the inhuman behavior of the Fascists towards the people of the conquered territories. Kern offers numerous examples of brutalities committed by the Nazis and draws a picture of life in the German-occupied areas of Europe. Each section ends with an overview of partisan movements in the aforementioned countries and underlines ‘the beginning of the end’ for the Nazis; yet, it was not until 1944/1945 that all 4 four countries were fully liberated from the fascists.
