bibliophile. Nikolay Smirnov-Sokolsky (1898-1962) was an artist but
became best-known for his book collection. His private library set new
standards for collectors of Russian fiction and first editions. His selection of Pushkin editions became the model for future generations of collectors. Every bibliographical entry comes with the notes on the rarity of the book and the story of its publication.
