This is a manual for the construction of the bay window as an important element of hygienic conditions for the life of Soviet man. “Stalin’s care for the man, that our socialist architecture is imbued with, calls the Soviet architects to construct the bay windows in the mass and communal houses” - the authors emphasized in the end of book. This structure solved the lighting problem, existed especially in the Northern countries, and was the aesthetically pleasant as well. In the late 1930s, this element had not been used frequently in the USSR, but there were some striking buildings.
The book features the contemporary works by architects Vesnin brothers, Zholtovsky, Belogrud: the exterior of Metropol’ and Savoi hotels, Moscow Hydroelectric Power Station (MOHES), Palace of Culture in Proletarsky district and some Soviet blocks of flats.
The manual provides information on the All-Union and Moscow construction regulations in this field, the instructions on how to build the different types of bay windows, publishing them with the drawings. The variety of structures confirmed the freedom of architects in their projects and the possibility of using the bay window in the construction of any building.

Worldcat shows the only copy in University of Illinois at Chicago.
