Leningrad: Academia, 1927. Item #680

208 pp.: ill. 23x16 cm. In original printed wrappers. Slightly loose, small fragments of spine lost, tears of covers and some soiling, Soviet bookshop’s stamps on the inner side of the back cover. Otherwise very good and internally clean.

The first and only issue. One of 1600 copies. Very rare.
The issue was published by the State Institute of the Art History and covered the broad spectrum of topics on the history of the art: from the low reliefs in Hermitage to the biography of an icon painter Simon Ushakov, the golden stitching done in Solovetsky monastery, or the source study of the area.
“Vremennik’ was planned as the periodical but this was the only issue produced.

Worldcat locates copies at Stanford, Harvard and NYPL.
