This is a richly illustrated tutorial for students of civil engineering that was compiled for the country recovering after World War II. It is the early work by one of the leading civil engineers, professor Vladimir Davidovich (1906-1978) who was an authority in urban planning and taught its principles at universities for 47 years.
Analyzing the schemes of different Soviet cities, Davidovich stressed that any plan of changes took into account the various natural conditions. Other points were demographical data, city economics and industrial areas location and the mass transit systems. The bibliography list includes the books, magazines and separate articles published in the 1920-1940s.
Davidovich was occupied by reconstruction of the Soviet cities for a few decades. This book is interesting as the technical book solving the particular problems of the urban structure.
Worldcat shows the only copy in Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
