First and only edition. One of 5000 copies. Rare.
This is a first and only part of the lectures program developed for students of Moscow Higher Architecture and Construction Institute in 1931 (now - Moscow Architectural Institute or MArchI).
The author emphasized that the lack of literature in Russian on the present issue forced him to devote a large place to illustrative material and the solution of individual examples from the practice of urban improvement. In addition to the lecture notes the materials for compiling this manual were projects for the improvement of socialist cities - Bobrikov, Magnitogorsk, Novo-Kuznetsk, Moscow, etc. Among the considered elements of city planning and improvement are streets, squares, urban underground system, vertical layout of urban areas, sidewalks, types of coverings of carriageways of the city, etc.
In general, a very informative book compiled as a textbook for students, but today introducing a lot of clarity into the thinking of architects of the young USSR.
