This catalogue is dedicated to museum of the brilliant Russian theatre director, Eugenii Vakhtangov (1883-1922), student of Stanislavsky and founder of ‘fantastic realism’ method. A lot of theatre experiments were staged inside his rooms. He died before his prominent performance ‘Turandot’ was premiered and his closest students and friends visited him (already very ill) in the period of rehearsals in this apartment. After his death, the sanctum became the museum. The catalogue lists 116 exhibits including photographs, sketches of costume and stage designs, letters and posters. The book is illustrated with photographs of the director himself, exhibits and room in general.
Worldcat shows the copies in Getty Institute and Harvard College.
