This font catalogue features typeface designs (Victorian, Grotesque, Renaissance, Egyptian, etc.), headline fonts, mathematic signs, calligraphy numbers, rulers and various ornaments displaying graphic possibilities of the 6th typo lithography of NKPS Transpechat. Each specimen has a number and typographic unit indicated.
NKPS (The People's Commissariat of Railways of the Soviet Union) was the state body of the USSR, which controlled the activities of the railway and other types of transport of the Soviet Union in 1923–1946. The commissariat had its own publishing house (Transpechat NKPS; from 1933 - Transzheldorizdat) noted for printing guidebooks, historical editions and special literature on the contemporary state of roads in Russia and abroad.
Transpechat is known also as a publishing house that have commissioned designs for the wrappers to Alexander Rodchenko and Alexei Gan in the 1920s.
