Item #955

[Tbilisi]: Poligraficheskiy trest VSNHG, [1920s]. 96х65 cm. Chromolithography. Carefully restored. In a very good condition. Design by unknown artist. Text in Georgian.
A remarkable example of the Georgian poster design. Extremely rare like most of Georgian posters of the 1920s. The graphic visualisation of the government loans in USSR. During the New Economic Policy the bonds were issued several times in the 1920s with the highest rate at 12%.
On the poster the worker, hammering a sickle, instead of sparkles producing the bonds that go to schools (building in the centre), cities and countryside. On the opposite side of the poster, behind the border post, is the image of the West, the explanation reads ‘The loans of the bourgeois countries are spent on the militarisation and suppression of the factory workers’. The conclusion at the bottom of the poster reads: ‘We are fighting the attempts of the financial blockade’. In fact the blockade was already in place as the Soviet State was not allowed to take credits from the world banks.
The poster was most likely created between 1924 and 1927 when such bonds were issued.

Price: $3,500.00
