Item #1731

Moscow: Tip. “Krasnaia zvezda”, [1960s]. 100x70,5 cm. Very good, tears, some of them restored.

One of 600 copies.
Fragile poster of large format printed on thin paper. In its design, an anonymous artist followed principles of Rodchenko’s constructivist designs. It reproduces a photograph of D. Shostakovich, V. Meyerhold, V. Mayakovsky and A. Rodchenko taken during a rehearsal of the play “Klop” [Bedbug] in 1929.

This posthumous exhibition of works by Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) was held in the Literary Museum at Dimitrova St. 38 (temporary name of Yakimanka St. in 1956-1992). Among exhibits were Rodchenko’s photomontages, photo studies, photo portraits of writers, graphic works and paintings. The show was initiated in the Literary Museum because of his collaboration with V. Mayakovsky in a huge number of projects. The event was accompanied with audio reproductions of performing Mayakovsky’s poetry by V. Iakhontov and E. Val’dman.
