Item #1783

Moscow: Gosudarstvennoe izdatel’stvo, 1927. 16 pp.: ill. 15x11,5 cm. In original illustrated wrappers. Tear of spine, stains throughout the copy, some pencil marks, otherwise good.

First edition.

An interesting early Soviet edition published for children and grown-ups educating under the likbez campaign.
The lithographic book contains two tales about an old peasant family. In the first one, they argue about the difficulties of male and female household chores in a rural area. In another one, their dispute turns into a silent game and finally involves neighbors. Despite being cheap and mass publication of a large font, the book is well-illustrated with four full-page drawings printed in red and black inks.
