Item #1790

Tiflis: ZakKNIIZH, 1935. [2], X, 8, 32, 32, 38, 75, 56, 26, 9, III pp. (in total 291 pp), 12 ills., 1 folding table. 22,5х15 cm. In original printed wrappers. Front cover detached, fragments of spine and back cover lost. All executed names were erased or painted over. Extremely rare banned edition.

The collection presents 8 works on early Soviet Georgian animal husbandry written by scientists which were executed likely in the Great Purge. Thus their names were pedantically erased from history and every publication. The works were composed when the Transcaucasian Republics together located more than 130,000 collective farms. During the years of industrialization, various research institutes were created in order to increase and develop all sectors of economy. This one existed throughout the 1930s.
Among articles are “Research work in animal husbandry of the ZSFSR”, “On the milk productivity of mountain cattle in Georgia”, “Milk production variability of Brown Swiss and Simmental breeds in ZSFSR” , “Megrelian goat”, “Results of a phenotypic survey of local pig nests in Georgia”, “Influence of mineral fertilizers on natural hayfields of the mountain-forest zone”, “Silkworm pupa as protein feed”, “Regarding the article by G.S.G. on the breed zoning in animal husbandry in the ZSFSR”. Some works are illustrated with photographs of breeds raised in Soviet Georgia.
