The 1966 Autumn/Winter issue of the renowned Bulgarian fashion magazine Bozhur [i.e. Peony], featuring over 120 colorful patterns for women’s, children’s, and men’s fashionable attire. Printed in Russian in Sofia, Bulgaria, the magazine ran from 1958 to 1990 and was widely popular among Soviet fashionistas. The issue opens with an editorial letter outlining the fashion trends for 1966: “The primary shapes of women’s clothing – sleek, imbued with a sporty essence....
The hues suggested by the ‘Bozhur’ magazine for the 1966 autumn winter season: mustard, forest green, espresso, and shades of pink, purple, and yellow.” The issue is segmented into several sections, encompassing Ladies’ Coats, Suits, Sets, Daily Apparel, Festive Clothes, Sportswear, and more. Every section showcases vibrant clothing patterns in vogue, accompanied by concise descriptions. The issue also includes twenty-five patterns specifically designed for children and men, clearly echoing the latest check-pattern trends. The magazine closes with DIY instructions for crafting a lace knit blouse and lace knit dress for women. Overall, an early issue of one of the most famous Bulgarian fashion magazines in Russian.
