Likely the first course in USSR, entirely dedicated to the writings of Mikhail Bulgakov – it has been composed before all his works were printed in full in the country. The professor responsible for being the first to shine the light on the art of the genius was Yulia Babicheva (1930-2011), she has taught Russian literature on the philologic department of Vologda University from 1970 to 2013.
In 1980s only a handful books in Russian on Bulgakov was available in the USSR – Marietta Chudakova has published the first edition of her
biography in 1988, and a year earlier a collection ‘Problems of theatrical heritage of Mikhail Bulgakov’ has been printed.
