A great late-Soviet guide into the understandings of the three Georgian scripts – the oldest one Asomtavruli used until Xth century, Nuskhuri from Xth to XIIth century (both now still used by Georgian Orthodox Church), and the modern Mkhedruli (since XIth cent). For each letter the name and the short history as given, as well as a few dozen variants of the letter from different scripts – all drawn from different manuscripts.
A separate section is dedicated to book initials for which each letter of the alphabet was used with several examples provided. The basic calligraphy is also present, with the rules on how to draw the letters.
Useful guide for anyone who wants to understand the Georgian alphabet better.
