Item #2222

Moscow: GIZ, 1931. 164, [4] pp. Original quarter cloth and marbled boards, printed cover label, covers somewhat worn and rubbed, a few gatherings becoming loose.

Second edition, enlarged; printed in an edition of 3000 copies. Expanded re-issue of one of Pasternak's earliest volumes of poetry which first appeared in 1917. Its aesthetics reflect those of the futurist group Tsentrifuga, a movement characterized by the revival of the lyrical and an emphasis on imagery and metaphor. "With S. Bobrov, B. Pasternak, and N. Aseyev... [Tsentrifuga) formed 'perhaps the most broadminded and cultivated futurist group (Markov)."
