An interesting book about the essence of Orthodoxy, its importance in people’s lives, and Russian sectarianism written by protopriest Vasily Demidov (1886-1952). A connoisseur of the canons and rules of the Orthodox Church, Demidov was a military priest in the White Army during the Civil War. In the second half of the 1920s, Vasily moved to the USA, where he began to teach theological disciplines at Holy Trinity Theological Seminary in Jordanville. Some of his books include Iz bezdny k Bogu [i.e. From the Abyss to God] (1942), V zashchitu Tserkvi [i.e. In Defense of the Church] (1948), etc.
