Uzhhorod: izdanie Podkarpatskogo Semelnogo Soyuza, 1922. 158 p., 10 pages of ads. 22,5x15 cm. Original illustrated wrapper. Back wrapper is rubbed, the spine is supplied. Otherwise in good condition. Stamp of the previous owner on the title page, as well as signatures of two other previous owners.

In Rusyn, Russian and Ukrainian. Extremely rare.
An interesting example of the imprint, produced in the early years of Uzhhorod being a part of Czechia. On September 10, 1919, under the terms of the Saint-Germain Peace Treaty, Transcarpathia with Uzhgorod as its administrative center was transferred to the Czechoslovak Republic. It remained in this status until 1939 until the beginning of WWII.
The calendar itself with the main church holidays included are placed on the first 40 pages of the book, the rest of the content consists of literature, historic and statistical articles, political appeals , humor and advertisements of the local businesses.
The literature is represented by such poets as Vassily Riashko from Scherbovtsy with his piece ‘Moskoly zabraly’, V Nashikh Karpatakh’ by Andrey Bella from Zhukov, also such authors as Iosif Krupa of Uzhhorod, Georgiy Khalus of Nizhni Vorota. In prose included is the short story ‘Groshy ak diavol’ by A. Brodiy.
The political status of Subcarpathian Rus is explained in the article ‘Our autonomy’, the address from president Masaryk from his visit to Uzhhorod is included, and a big program article by Subcarpathian Land Union is included as well, them being a sponsor of the calendar, including the photos of the members of the Union.

All in all a valuable document on the region.
