As author states in the preface, what looked like a simpler process in 1920s, by mid-1930s has became an art in itself with the additional terminology and machinery coming to the field with every year, it was hard for the workers to keep up with it all: this is why the book was produced.

Yuli Karlovich Laupert (1873-?) was an active educator and author in the field of photography and photo-printing. During 1920-1940s he has written more than a dozen titles, with the ultimate bestseller 'Oshibki i neudachi negativnogo protsessa’ survived 4 edition pre-war and became a hand-book for the first generation of the amateur photographers.
This dictionary has been re-printed for the second edition in 1941.
