Design by Willem van de Poll (illustrator). The second page features a black-and-white map showing the locations of major concentration camps of Nazi Germany. Text in Dutch. One of the first Dutch publications after the liberation of the Netherlands.
The book contains harrowing and powerful photo-documentation of Nazi atrocities in the concentration camps in» Grossdeutschland” (“Greater Germany”). There are 26 striking black-and-white collotype images, each with a caption below. The photographs were taken by various unnamed Allied war photographers. They worked under the authority of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force after liberating the camps. Camps shown include Bergen-Belsen, Buchenwald, Langestein, Mauthausen, Dachau, and Schwabmünchen. The images were later collected and compiled by acclaimed Dutch photographer Willem van de Poll (1895–1970).
