Item #2597

Krasnodar: IZO-ROKK, [1934]. One leaf folded into 6 parts of two-side print. Small blank fragment of upper edge lost, some light foxing, minor tears of one edge, otherwise very good.

Small regional foldout book for first aid. Lithographed throughout. Very rare.

The edition was printed in the Republic of Adygea. Despite an enormous printrun, it’s highly possible that most copies weren’t preserved until today. The memo was commissioned by a local branch of the Russian Red Cross Society. One side of the edition shows four illustrations with small verses and two “covers”. Four pages of the illustrated side feature frequent injuries that may be caused during sport games and other activities. They include bleeding after a blow to an arm or nose, abrasions after
fall and fractures. The latter case was heavier than a nurse pioneer could treat on her own, so the edition recommends putting the wounded one on a flat surface and calling a doctor. Another side of the edition provides text rules on how to behave in depicted situations.

Worldcat shows copies located in Chicago and Princeton Universities.
