Daniil Samoilovich Pasmanik (1869 - 1930) was a Russian publicist and social activist of Jewish origin, physician, assistant professor at the medical faculty of the University of Geneva (1899—1905) and an activist in the Zionist movement. After revolution he was a member of the Central Committee of the Cadet Party. Since February of 1917 he has been located in Crimea, making the mark in the local social and political life during the Civil War. In Yalta, he found the newspaper “Yalta Voice”, and after moving to Simferopol, he edited the provincial newspaper of the Cadets “Tavrichesky Voice”. He was an opponent of the power of the Soviets and the Provisional Government, supported the Kornilov putsch. He assisted General M. V. Alekseyev in the fight against Bolshevism. He lived in Crimea until April 3, 1919 before immigrating to Paris. The book is an important text in the discussion on the origins of bolshevism in Russia from one of the most prominent figures in White Army movement among the Jewish intelligentsia. In it Pasmanik, being a monarchist, argues that there is nothing in common between Judaism and Bolshevism and that accusations against Jews that they played a decisive role in the Russian Revolution are nonsense, at least on purely arithmetic grounds. Quote from the book: “We cannot limit ourselves to the statement that the Jewish people are not responsible for certain actions of its individual members. We are responsible for Trotsky until we fence ourselves off from him, just as the entire Russian people are responsible for Lenin and Chicherin and all the traitorous generals until they fence themselves off from them. We Jews have no right to hide in our snail».
