The Boris Yeltsin presidential campaign, 1996 was the reelection campaign of Russian president Boris Yeltsin in the 1996 election. Despite lack of popular support, Yeltsin came out of the campaign victorious as the popular slogan, that Yeltsin is ‘ lesser of two evils’ (compared to his communist counterpart Zyuganov) has prevailed.
