The chromolithographic proof of the cover of the exhibition catalogue, that includes additional information on the exhibition, it was printed before the catalogue was sent to the presses.

According to the date of approval for the print (August 22, 1944), this exhibition of military literature was among the first Soviet efforts to engage with the history of World War II through print. The siege of Leningrad had been lifted, but the war was still far from over.

The rear side lists 16 sections of the exhibition. Books were devoted to the Civil War, the Red Army during the interwar period, World War II, Leningrad blockade, the Soviet Navy, Russian military history, tactics and combat, military institutions, uniforms, troop upbringing and training, command and control, military administration, armaments. Also, the exhibition presented military periodicals, regulations and manuals of the Russian army both before and after the revolution.
