Several tears in the flaps, one tears in the dust jacket. Dust-jacket in the protective mylar. All protective tracing papers for the illustrations have been preserved and the album is otherwise complete.

Armenian manuscript tradition is one of the oldest among the Christian nations. With its oldest manuscript dating back to the 7th century (Gospel of Banants), some of the best examples of miniatures date back to the 10th–12th centuries. The album is based on the collection of Matenadaran, the Armenian Museum of manuscripts.

The Matenadaran collections contain over 17,000 ancient manuscripts and over 100,000 ancient archival documents. Along with Armenian manuscripts (11,230 complete and 2,200 fragmentary).
