Designed by Pyotr Golub' (1913–1953), Soviet graphic artist, book illustrator, and poster designer. Golub' began his career in the 1930s, contributing illustrations to the magazines Ogonyok and Smena, before establishing himself as one of the leading designers of Soviet advertising posters in the 1940s and early 1950s. His work encompassed commercial advertising, agriculture, sport, elections, and domestic and foreign political propaganda.

Issued in the final year of Stalin's life, the poster belongs to the post-war campaign promoting the achievements of Soviet light industry and improvements in consumer goods. Rather than emphasizing heavy industry or military production, it celebrates the manufacture of attractive, high-quality textiles, reflecting the increasing official attention devoted to raising living standards after the hardships of the Second World War. The slogan, "More Beautiful and Better-Quality Fabrics!", encouraged both increased production and higher manufacturing standards while presenting Soviet industry as capable of satisfying the everyday needs of its citizens.
