24 pp.: ill. 26,5x17,5 cm. In original illustrated wrappers. Very good. Loss of small parts of corners of the wrappers, spine is rebacked with paper from the inside, ink stamp on p.2 of former library, foxing and some soiling.

This is a trade catalogue of the company selling library equipment called Bureau of Library Equipment established as a part of bookshop of the publishing house Ekonomicheskaya zhizn (i.e. Economic Life). Such a catalogue is clear reminder of the short but bright period of NEP (New Economic Policy). All entries are supplied with photographs like catalogue boxes, catalog cases, boxes for reader’s cards, catalogue cards, dividing cards, cards for periodicals, reader’s cards, inventory books, library pockets for books, labels, request forms, book stoppers, bookmarks, stamps, sticks for newspapers, etc. Especially interesting to see items which are not in use today like paper knives for books or letters for posters of different sizes. Each item comes with a short description and price (e.g., bookmarks of two types one of which with text ‘‘Ten commandments of citizen reader’’, price for 100 was 3 roubles).

The catalogue also advertised services of the Bureau like demolition or creating a library, cataloguing books, systematizing books and cards, as well as other stationery items and books in the shop. The most interesting is a list of books on library work and bibliography (almost 70 titles).
