Due to a lack of educational institutions in the early 1920s books were the main tool of likbez and education in general. Infant Soviet theatre as we know it was ready to accept new recruits but was lacking guidance. So manuals like this editions came in very handy for a new generation of actors, directors, writers. The author dissects all aspects of stage work from choosing plays, role assignment, improvizations to different methods of learning lines and preparing to go on stage. A very interesting cross section of evolution of Russian theatre and theatre education.

Worldcat located copies at Amherst College Library, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Germany), University College London (UK).
