Extremely rare.

This is a remarkable collection of five first Solzhenitsyn's publications including his first ever publication of the famous One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Writer's publications accompanied by two reviews in the end of the convolute. The short period when Solzhenitsyn was allowed to print his works in Russia came after chief editor of Novy Mir
Alexander Tvardovsky (1910-1971) showed a novel by him to Khruchev and suprisingly it met his approval.

Everything that was printed in Novy Mir by Solzhenitsyn is bound in this book.

By March of 1963 Alexander Solzhenitsyn lost Khrushchev's favor and after Brezhnev came to power he completely lost an ability to publish his works legally. Soviet press started anti-Solzhenitsyn campaign after In the First Circle and Cancer Ward were published in the West in 1968. KGB created a special unit working against the writer. In 1974 authorities ordered to remove all issues of Novy Mir with Solzhenitsyn's publications: №11 from 1963 (One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich), №1 from 1963 (Matryona's Place), №7 from 1963 (For the Good of the Cause), №1 from
1966 (Zakhar-Kalita). Magazines were destroyed by cutting into little pieces which was confirmed by a special report signed by librarians who were actually destroying them.

WorldCat locates Novy Mir. №7 from 1963 (For the Good of the Cause) in one library (California State Library) and Novy Mir. №11 from 1962 (One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich) in five Northern American libraries. Other issues were not
found.
