This richly illustrated catalogue provides general overview of the Georgian wine-making industry including grape cultivation, the qualities of most brands and various types of grape wines, major Georgian wineries, etc. The edition offers brief yet comprehensive description of 36 Georgian wines, 10 Georgian cognacs and Soviet champagnes. Each description is accompanied by a colorful illustration depicting packaging of the beverages. The catalogue also includes a sketch map of the Georgian SSR indicating distribution sites of SAMTRUST wineries (a wine-making organization that incorporated the state Georgian wineries) across the country and a map showing shipment of wines to the countries of the Mediterranean Sea. Most likely, the edition was printed for the international competition of wines, champagne and cognacs held in Tbilisi, in September 1965. The catalogue was published in several languages: in Russian and Georgian for the domestic market and in English and French for export.
The edition was compiled by Prof. G. I. Beridze, Chief Wine-Making Expert of the National Economic Council of the Georgian SSR and P. Azarashvili, Director of the Moscow winery of Samtrust.
