This issue of 'Ogonyok' was the first one printed after Germany began the war against Soviet Union on the 22 of June 1941.

Boris Efimov's iconic caricatures on the front wrapper (a Soviet soldier slaughtering Nazi pig). Other caricatures by Efimov on pages of this issue. They were among the first ones created in this context. On p.1 of the issue the proclamation by Molotov is printed – it’s a print version of the speech he made on 22 of June about the start of the war against Nazi Germany.
