Early work of Central Labor Institute (1920-1939) that was established for demonstrating and propaganda of principles of the scientific study of labor. The worker’s labor was studied starting from
the elementary motions. Among others, it was examined by psychiatrist Nikolai Ozeretsky (1893-1955) who specialized in the neuropathology of children.

The motor capability, according to him, is the human ability to learn any movement. In the early 1920s, medical and scientific institutions researched only the inability of an organism to operate while Ozeretsky was interested in how exactly a human being moved and what happened inside him all this time. He proposed to study ‘pure’ movements of children who underwent less impact of circumstances. He focused on how a child walked, crawled, climbed, stood and grabbed something - all of that could be observed during experiments using different methods and techniques up to cinematography and chronophotography. In 1923 he already invented a series of tests for children of various ages (4-15 years old) to study their daily actions. This experience was the base for compiling enlarged tests for adults. They also included data of sex, race, culture and personality because these points significantly influenced motions and gestures.
